Custom Framing is Expensive! Cut down on that cost, while still getting a custom look, by cutting your own mat board! With this simple tutorial, you can purchase a frame and mat board of your choice; then cut the mat board to fit any piece of art you choose!
Step 1: Gather Supplies
Art Work
Paper Towels
Multi-Surface Cleaner
Step Two:
Clean your cutting mat and right angle using a paper towel and multi-surface cleaner. This step is important because you do not want your tools getting your mat board dirty.
Step Three: Tape your mat board in place and mark the center of your mat board using the cutting mat ruler and right angle.
Step 4: Mark your cut lines. You want your cutout to be slightly smaller than your artwork.
Step Five: Cut the mat board using the mat cutter.
Step Six: Use Exacto-Knife if needed to free your cut out.
Step Seven: Frame art and enjoy!
